Porsche Boxster/Cayman 987

The 987 was the second generation Boxster model and the first Cayman, but remained very similar to the previous generation. The most obvious styling change is to the headlights, which now have a profile similar to those of the Carrera GT, Porsche's mid-engined supercar. The intake vents on the sides of the Boxster Cayman 987 are now larger, with more pronounced horizontal slats and are coloured metallic silver, irrespective of the paint colour on the rest of the car. Porsche Boxster/Cayman 981

The 981 reflects the new design language from the 911 (991) and 918, and features revised engine and transmission specifications. The chassis had been revised: it is 40 percent more torsionally rigid and there is a small weight reduction of up to 35 kg compared to the previous Porsche 987. The steering changes to electromechanical, and the parking brake uses an electronic linkage. The instrument cluster features a color screen in conjunction with various sensors that can display accurate engine temperature, oil temperature and oil pressure. The 982 or 718 featured two new horizontally-opposed flat-4 turbocharged engines at 2.0L and 2.5L (‘S’) displacement with increased torque and horsepower with lower fuel consumption.
